Land Park was the last of Sacramento's park neighborhoods to be built. Its first tract, the College Tract, broke ground in 1927, and most of its houses date to the 1930s, finished with Period Revival touches such as Tudor gables and storybook rooflines. The same developers, Wright & Kimbrough, also built the "Fab 40s" in East Sacramento. These homes are a pleasure to live in, but their closets were sized for a much smaller wardrobe, so the design leans on double hanging, adjustable shelving and drawers that free up floor space in the bedroom.
Many of the newer homes across the region come with walk-ins and attached garages. There the job is organization at scale: a clear side for each person, a home for shoes and folded clothes, and a garage plan built around what the family actually owns.
