Custom Closets & Organizers in Santa Clarita, CA

Santa Clarita's valley was Rancho San Francisco, granted in 1839, and in 1842 Francisco López found gold in Placerita Canyon beside what is now called the Oak of the Golden Dream, six years before the better-known find at Sutter's Mill. In 1876 the Pico No. 4 well in Pico Canyon became California's first commercially successful oil strike, and the same year the railroad's ceremonial spike was driven through the valley; Henry Mayo Newhall laid out the town of Newhall soon after. Valencia's master plan followed in 1965, and on December 15, 1987 Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country and Valencia joined as one city while keeping their own identities. Those four communities still shape what a closet project here looks like.

Santa Clarita homes and what they mean for storage

• Old Town Newhall: the oldest neighbourhood in the city, where houses predate the tracts around them and closets tend to be compact. Adding drawers and a second rod to the existing reach-in gets real capacity out of a small bedroom.
• Valencia villages: planned villages begun in 1967, linked by paseos that pass over and under the streets, and ranging from condos to detached homes. Plans run from a slim reach-in fit-out in a townhome to a full walk-in layout in a larger house.
• Canyon Country and Saugus: established neighbourhoods with long-standing single-family tracts and apartments along the main roads. Bedroom closets and attached garages in these areas often need a full reorganization rather than another shelf.
• Placerita and Sand Canyon: equestrian areas with large custom ranch homes, where every garage and closet is a different size and shape. Each is planned from on-site measurements around how that household uses it.

Two-person households are the most common kind in Santa Clarita, and as children move out a spare bedroom often opens up. With open hanging, a center island and a full-length mirror, that room can become a dressing room that takes the pressure off the main closet.
