Custom Closets & Organizers in Palmdale, CA

Palmdale began in 1886 as Palmenthal, settled by Lutheran families of German and Swiss descent from the Midwest who took the valley's Joshua trees for palms. Mail service began in 1888, and after the railroad set up a helper station about two miles west in 1893, the settlers moved beside the tracks; by 1899 the town was called Palmdale. Lake Palmdale was completed in 1924 to supply local farms, and Palmdale became a city on August 24, 1962. Set about 2,660 feet up on the desert floor, Palmdale is mostly single-family houses, and nearly eight in ten date from the three decades starting in 1980.

Palmdale homes and what they mean for storage

• Rancho Vista: a planned community approved in 1986 on the city's west side, with detached homes now reaching their third and fourth decades. Original builder closets here benefit from new components: stacked drawers, double rods and shelving that adjusts as needs change.
• 1980s and 1990s neighbourhoods: the two decades behind close to 60 percent of local housing, mostly single-family homes with attached garages. Wall cabinets and overhead racks give the garage a defined place for tools, holiday boxes and sports gear.
• Anaverde and the west hills: planned neighbourhoods off Elizabeth Lake Road on the city's western edge, where newer homes come with larger walk-ins. Dividing each walk-in by person, with a shoe wall and a central drawer tower, keeps a family's wardrobe sorted.

Palmdale workers spend about 40 minutes getting to work on average, so mornings start early and run on a schedule. A grab-and-go station in the bedroom closet, with a hook for the next day's outfit, a tray for keys and badge and a cubby for the work bag, shortens the routine.
