Custom Closets & Organizers in Fontana, CA

Fontana began as Rosena, a railroad townsite of the 1880s, before A.B. Miller bought the land early in the 1900s and built the Fontana Farms ranch house in 1905 and 1906. His operation spread across some 18,000 acres of grain, citrus, vineyards, hogs and poultry, and on June 7, 1913 the townsite opened under the name Fontana. Route 66 ran through town along what is now Foothill Boulevard, a steel mill operated on the edge of town from 1942 to 1984, and Fontana became a city on June 25, 1952. Today four in five Fontana homes are single-family houses, and households here are larger than the county average.

Fontana homes and what they mean for storage

• Central Fontana: ranch houses from the 1960s to the 1980s, with some older streets still showing large lots and small houses. Reach-ins in these homes are long and plain, so two rods, a drawer bank and ceiling-height shelving turn them into full wardrobes.
• Residential estate lots: areas zoned for estate living at about two homes per acre, where horses and other large animals are allowed on half-acre sites. With feed, tack and tools in the mix, closed garage cabinets keep animal supplies apart from household storage.
• North Fontana planned communities: Hunter's Ridge at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Coyote Canyon and Sierra Lakes, built mostly from the late 1980s on, where houses typically include a walk-in and an attached garage. A walk-in planned with a section per person keeps a busy household's wardrobe in order.

Fontana households average nearly four people, and many garages hold a second refrigerator or a freezer alongside bulk groceries and household supplies. Cabinets built around the appliances, with shelves sized for cases and cartons, keep that pantry-in-the-garage organized and easy to restock.
