Gift Ideas for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is once a year and every year most people cannot decide what to get their husband, father, or stepdad for Father’s Day. So in order to make this a more enjoyable experience, here are some gift ideas:

1. Tools: Whether it be for house repairs or working on the car, every guy needs a set of tools to get the work done,

2. Grill Tools: We all like to have the backyard barbecue in the summer time and it might be time for a new set of supplies.

3. Fishing Gear: Father’s take a lot of time out of their hands to practice with their child for whatever they might be doing such as swimming, baseball, softball, and Tennis. In order to learn some outdoor skills with their child, fishing is a great way to bond with their son.

4, Golf Clubs: At some point, retiring will be in the future for most men. Some guys, like to spend their time off golfing or learning to golf so help them get started with some Golf Clubs.

5. Gadgets: Not all dads are into technology, but if they are into technology an ipad or anything else that is useful would be a perfect gift to get your dad or loved one.

6. Sports Tickets: Sports fans need something to look forward to so buy your father some tickets to their sports team.

7. Personalized Gift: When you are little, nothing is better than the picture you drew or the art you made especially for the dad who plays with you.

It’s Time to De-Clutter and Organize Your Home.

In Season 8 of the hit TV show, Friends, Chandler discovers that Monica has a secret closet which is always locked. After several attempts, he gets it open, only to discover a terrible, messy pile of junk.  This shows a comedic spin on a very common problem.  Our homes inevitably become our treasure chests. Over time our homes, our treasure chests, tend to amass and collect all kinds of keepsakes. Our homes can only handle so much clutter.

Below are tips of how to deal with the clutter you have amassed over the years. The following process will not be completed in matter of a day or even weeks for that matter. Take your time, work slowly and think it through.

Bedroom Closets: Our closets hold clothing that we never wear. As the adage goes, “if you have not worn it in a year, get rid of it.” If more space is needed, consider a Closet World closet. We can give each of your items a separate space. Make any bedroom closet in your home seem a whole lot bigger! Place suits and dresses on rods, sweaters on shelves, shoes on racks, socks in bins and jewelry in drawers. You can create your very own combination. Any way you design it, you will see how much room is actually available! Visit www.closetworld.com/closets for inspirational ideas or call (800) 434-6018 for a free in-home design consultation.

Bookcases: Most of the clutter we find are books, magazines, newspapers, etc. People hold on to old high school and college textbooks, archives of magazines and newspapers, which take up plenty of space in our homes. Donate textbooks and books to charitable foundations that can use them and throw away anything that is of no significance. You will clear up a lot of space this way.

Kids Room: Kids get bored with toys fast. The same thought process that goes into closets, applies here. If they have not played with it in a while or do not remember that they have that toy, its time to get rid of it. Don’t forget to donate the toys to a charitable foundation that can give it to those in need.

Kitchen Pantry: Your kitchen pantry can hold a lot of goods. There is a lot of storage space in your kitchen. You will be amazed with the various items that get accumulated in those cabinets. Go through all you kitchen cupboards and throw out whatever you do not need. You will be amazed with the free space you will have. If more storage space is needed, consider a Closet World pantry. Visit www.closetworld.com/pantries for inspirational ideas or call (800) 434-6018 for a free in-home design consultation.

Linen Closet: Over the years, we tend to stock up on towels and sheets. And although having plenty on hand is a good idea, but you can throw out the older ones or use them in the garage.

Under Your Bed: Also known as “no mans land,” the area under your bed is full of all sorts of stuff. Proceed with caution. Be ready to use a vacuum and duster.

Have a plan in mind. Do some research and see how you want things to be before you start. Think about how you want to organize. Organizing does not have to be boring anymore, as there are new and trendy ways to handle an old problem. Closet World has the best team of designers available to give you a hand in designing and coming up with the best solution for your needs and your pocket book.

Spring Office Organization

It can be easy to neglect the home office, especially if you are not using it to be a freelancer or have the need to invite clients over the house. A few pointers can help you organize the office so that you can have a presentable office space around the year.

Tips for Office Organizing:

  1. Designate areas for your mail, computer, external hard drives, bills to pay, paper, envelopes, and etc. so they are easy to locate.
  2. Make weekly spot cleanings to the deck. Ie. Dusting, cleaning the windows, tidying up the desk, and putting papers away
  3. Keep your personal and business papers separate.
  4. Naming conventions for the files on your computer. If you are having trouble finding certain documents having a naming convention will be very useful and you will be able to find documents faster.
  5. Pick up the papers around the desk so that you can start the next day with a clean desk every morning. Look at it as your space that is for business life not personal.
  6. Keep the cords tucked away so the cables for the computer, printer, scanner, etc are not entirely visible.

Spring Pantry Organization

Your pantry can get disorganized very quickly and most of the time will not get organized again until the next spring cleaning. Take the time to organize the pantry based off of type of foods such as pasta and pasta sauces, spices, rice, canned goods, drinks, etc. It might take an hour to go through the pantry, but in the end it will look amazing and feel like you accomplished something. It will be nice to have a place for the items in the pantry to go so that when you go to the grocery store, it will be easy to put away the items. Drinks: Organize the drink self based upon what drunk it is so you do not have to go digging to find Coke or Water. The drinks can be placed on the bottom shelves to avoid spills and messes.

Spring Closet Organization

Spring Cleaning can always come in handy, although, but what about Spring Organizing? Spring Organizing can help you de-clutter your life into a more simplistic lifestyle.

Closet Organization Suggestions:

  1. Color coordinate clothes in the closet: If you are looking for the perfect color for a special occasion, color coordinating the closet might be a great idea. You can always separate it out further by adding work or your going out clothes
  2. Take out any clothes that do not fit anymore. You can donate or sell your clothes that you don’t wear anymore. Great motivation to buy some new clothes.
  3. Shoe organizing: I am sure that if you a woman, you have plenty of shoes to go around. You can organize your shoes by heels, work shoes, gym shoes to make your shoes easier to find.
  4. Art Supplies: You might have a ton of art supplies lying around in the closet. Have clear bins to place art supplies in instead of not knowing where that one Blue Crayon went. Now it can all be in one place and easy to find. You can always label the clear bin.
  5. Photos: I am sure we all have old photos lying around and you have no idea what to do with them. Get Photo containers to place them in instead of leaving them stacked in the closet. Put the events in chronological order so that you can go back and remember a particular event.

Post Super Bowl Sunday

The New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI 21-17! Now that most of us were either hosting or attending a Super Bowl Party, the most daunting part is going to always be the clean up from the mess and getting your home organized again. Luckily, I can give you a few pointers on to deal with the aftermath.

  • Pick up all the food dishes
  • Wash the Dishes
  • Vacuum or Sweep
  • Deep clean the carpets for the hard to remove spots

On to the organizing, there must have been a few things that you put away so that nothing gets broken in the midst of a super bowl game. It is probably time to uncover those things and start putting them away and back on coffee tables. It is also would be a good opportunity to organize again, maybe by color coordinating or simply putting new books out.

Super Bowl XLVI

The New England Patriots and New York Giants will be playing at the Super Bowl XLVI this coming Sunday. I am sure that almost everyone is planning on having or going to a Super Bowl Party. It takes a lot of work to plan a great Super Bowl Party.

Tips:

  1. Big Screen TV
  2. Buffalo Wings
  3. Snacks
  4. Drinks
  5. Clean House
  6. Super Bowl Sunday XLVI

Closets Based On Your Needs

For a standard house, we have the typical closet, which consists of a door and inside the closet we have a rack to hang clothes and possibly a couple of shelves. I have found it very difficult to keep it organized. Most of my shelves are being used as storage instead of being used for shoes or accessories that I might have such as purses, scarves, and belts. Now with custom closets, a person can be able to use it as some storage space as well as a place so that your shoes can have a home besides letting them stay on the floor.

In the closet, I have featured, is open without doors. It makes the look to the bedroom more organized and modern. There are shoes rack that can hold 2 shoes per rack, which is enough room for 24 pairs of shoes, but if you own a lot more shoes you can always look into getting a walk in closet that should accommodate all your needs. There are different sized clothes racks to accommodate shirts pants and dresses to keep you that much more organized. There are some drawers that you can use for jewelry and other accessories we may have and the larger drawers as a hamper.

The next time you decide to take on a closet makeover, think of Closet World to make your dreams come true.

Also, if you have a closet world closet, tell me what you think about it.
